One of the worst things that can happen is to be stuck in life. Stuck doing something that doesn't make you happy now, has never made you happy then, and will never make you happy, ever. It's sad and disheartening, because you may know your worth more – that you have so much to offer, and yet it's wasted. This is when you know it's time for a change. It's very easy to get so trapped in a miserable routine, that you're no longer aware that you're unhappy because you've just made yourself get used to it – it's a habit now, it's just how your life is. But you're wrong. It doesn't have to be like this, you are in control of your own destiny, and that means you have absolute power over what you do with it.

Whether you want to save animals and nurse them back to health as a living, or go off with tefl and explore the world while teaching young children English – the possibilities are really endless. You can be whoever you want to be in this life.

If you still feel a little unsure and need that extra push, here are a couple more reasons why now is the time to change your career.

The risk of depression

Depression isn't a game, but unfortunately, the word itself is often used to express a mere bad mood, when really it is so much more than that. Depression manifests within your mind until you are so low within yourself that you just want to give up. You'll feel like there's no point in anything, so why bother trying. If you're able to drag yourself out of bed and get to work, you won't be good company. You won't have any desire to laugh and joke with your colleagues, you'll just begin to isolate yourself so that you don't have to try. So what might start out like a bad day, can turn into a week, then a month, then a year, without you even knowing how long has passed you by, so it's so important that you better yourself and go and get help when you need it. Speak to your doctor and let them advise you on what's best.

Missing out

You know when you do something, and once it's done you can't help thinking about the what-ifs? Well, what if you could've had a career packed full of love, passion, drive, success, wealth, and most importantly, happiness? But instead, you were too fearful of change, so you stayed doing something you hate and burnt so many years of your life, only to get to a certain age where you realise you messed up. Messed up on the decision you made, holding yourself back, and now it's too late to do anything about it. All the things you could've done, and seen, and experienced, but you missed out on them all because you played it safe.

Don't let this be you. Wake up and do something that makes you happy. Now.
