Did you know that your social media channels can earn you money? With so many social media channels out there, it can be difficult to choose which ones to utilise to help you to grow your brand, your followers and your income. In this blog post, I have teamed up with an SEO company, Click, to help you to find out which social media account or accounts you should focus on.

G+ is the social media channel that people often say they don't know why they have an account, or how it works, but they know they need it.

That's because Google own Google+, meaning that they like to show G+ content in Google search results. It is really useful for driving more traffic to your blog or your business, and helping with your Google rankings.

How to make money from G+

You won't be able to share a promotion on G+ and share for it (you can, of course, share a sponsored post, but you can't directly share a promotion). G+ will help you to earn money by bringing more people to your blog or your business.

Facebook has a massive 2.19 billion active users, so if your business is advertising on Facebook then you can reach a lot of potential customers and visitors. Facebook is really easy to set up and use, and you can benefit from having a page dedicated to your business, or creating a Facebook group to bring your community together. In fact, I do both!

A lot of people have found that Facebook is moving towards more ad-based content, meaning that you have to pay to get people to see your posts and supercharge your traffic. Whilst I have found this to be the case, I have also found Facebook ads extremely effective. You can target audiences really well, and run great reports on your adverts to see what works and what doesn't.

How to make money from Facebook

There are plenty of ways to make money from Facebook. The first is to drive more traffic to your blog or business. You can also directly post promotions to your Facebook page or group – this is where a brand will pay you to take part in a campaign and share their product or service with your followers or community.

Instagram is one of my favourite social media accounts, with two main aspects to it. You have a main feed, where you can post images and videos, and then you also have stories which are images and videos that disappear after 24 hours. Instgram stories are my absolute favourite, because I love sharing snippets of my day. I get such great feedback from showing behind the scenes of running my business, as well as being honest about the state of my house or how bad my mental health is doing.

Instagram is not a social media channel that I use to bring traffic to my blog. Links are not allowed in captions, and only accounts with over 10,000 followers are able to share links in their stories, making it quite restrictive. However, Instagram has helped my followers to connect with me and relate to me.

Brands will want to collaborate with you to create content that your followers will love. You can earn money from sponsored Instagram posts, or posting about a product or service in your Instagram stories.

Twitter is a great platform for sharing short updates including links to your business or blog posts, daily insights into your life and more. As well as the 280 characters, Twitter can also host video and images in your tweets. Using hashtags on Twitter means that your content can be found by relevant people, and tweets can also appear in Google results.

How to make money from Twitter

There are three main ways to make money from Twitter. The first is from driving traffic to your blog or your business content, the second is to utilise affiliate links and the third is to collaborate with brands looking to reach your audience.

How to choose which social media platform to use to make money

The best advice I can give you when it comes to choosing which social media platform to use to make money is to choose 1-3 platforms that you love using. It is no good trying to make money from YouTube if you hate appearing on video, or using Facebook if you'd prefer not to have a Facebook account. Work hard on your chosen platforms to build up your followers and supercharge your income.
