This past weekend it was time to pack a bag and head to the Shomos – the third annual UK Money Bloggers conference and awards ceremony.
I was really excited about spending the day with like minded money bloggers. Three years ago we didn't have this sort of event for people blogging about money in the UK, and to see the community grow to almost 200 bloggers is amazing.
Not only was I attending the event, I was speaking on a panel, heading a break out group and up for four awards in the SHOMOs.
The day was jam packed with lots of talks and sessions for bloggers to learn more and network with one another.
After lunch it was time for a panel I was on with Charlotte from Lotty Earns and Katy from Katy Kicker led by Andy from Be Clever With Your Cash. This panel was about selling out as bloggers and hopefully provided lots of useful information about disclosure and much more.
Possibly my favourite part of the day was the smaller break out groups, where a blogger would almost run a session based on a particular topic. My topic was course, and I had that horrible nervousness that no one would book my session. I was wrong though, and I got to chat to lots of lovely bloggers about my experience with launching my own course, and answer their questions about everything from pricing to choosing which platform to host the course on.
After the conference it was time for the awards ceremony, this time with 17 categories!
I was up for:
- Best Frugal & Thrift Blog
- Best Money Vlog
- Best Social Media
- Best Money Making Blog
I am absolutely chuffed to have won Best Money Making Blog. This award means so much to me, because I strive to teach people about genuine ways to make money online, as well as telling them what is absolute rubbish (like delivering BT Phone books). To see all my hard work rewarded with this award is amazing.
Afterwards there were drinks and pizza to celebrate – what's better for money bloggers then free food and drink?
The SHOMOs were amazing, and I am so glad I got to spend time with some amazing money bloggers, as well as meeting lots of people from my free 6 week money making course.
