Are you missing out on free food?

Are you missing out on free food? Weekly grocery shopping and eating out can cost an absolute fortune, the average UK family spends roughly more than £53 on their grocery shopping each week which comes out at nearly £3,000 a year. That £3,000 doesn’t even include treats like takeaways and dining out- so it’s no wonder a lot of families are looking for new ways to reduce their food bill.

If you’re looking to reduce your own food bill- I have a new idea for you- use apps and loyalty cards to get yourself some free food! Without these apps you are missing out on some seriously great opportunities- from eating out at restaurants for free to getting some free items with your weekly shopping. Check out my favourite ways to get free food and you might not even need to bring your wallet on your next meal out.

KFC’s Colonel Club

Is there anything better than free chicken? When you sign up to the KFC reward app, you are automatically given 3 free stamps which you can exchange for two free Hot Wings. The Colonel Club app will continue to give you reward stamps every time you eat there- you will receive one stamp for every time you purchase something over £3. The app also gives you exclusive access to deals and offers- keep your eyes peeled for the free food promotions!

Subway’s Subcard

Get free Subway sandwiches when you sign up to the Subway Subcard loyalty scheme. When you make a purchase, ask your server to scan your app and you will earn 10 points for every £1 that you spend at Subway. Once you have redeemed 500 points, this will get you a 6 inch sub of your choice. If you are a new Subcard holder, you can even receive double points throughout your first 28 days as a loyalty card member.

Wuntu is an app available to 3 mobile customers, if you’re not already a 3 mobile customer- it might be worth switching simply for the free food deals offered with the Wuntu app! Free food deals run regularly, with free Domino’s pizza, free drinks from Costa, and £5 meals at Bella Italia having recently been promoted on the app. If you’re already a 3 mobile customer, you are definitely missing out on free food if you don’t have this app.

Shopmium is a great little app which you can use to pick up free food in local stores such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. Freebies can range from coconut water to meat-free mince and the items available are always being changed up and sometimes renewed. There are so many things listed on the app that you are likely to come away with a little haul every week if you have a number of different stores near you.

Nando’s Card

Yet another way to get your hands on some free chicken! The Nando’s card is a must for any peri-peri lover, if you are a regular Nando’s customer you could soon get your hands on some free food by picking up a card at the till next time you go to Nando’s. Then, you can register your details online or on the app- and even get a free bonus ‘chilli’ reward stamp for doing so. When you eat at Nando’s and spend £7 or more, you get another chilli stamp on your Nando’s card. Once you have 10 chilli stamps, you qualify for a whole chicken or single combo meal with regular sides. That deal is too tasty to miss out on!

GBK (Gourmet Burger Kitchen)

The GBK app gives you a free Baconnaise sauce when you sign up for their app, and once you are signed up, the freebies just keep coming! You can earn loyalty stamps every time you spend £7 or more on a meal. On every second visit to GBK, you will find an offer waiting for you for a free burger, fries, sauce or drink when you check the app. If you refer a friend to the app, you will both receive a free side dish with the ‘Burger Pusher’ feature- it’s designed so that you and your friend can both eat some free food!
