I first discovered Lee Stafford hair care products when I was a teenager, and I fell in love! They smell divine and work wonders for my hair, but they often carry a hefty price tag. I was recently sent a pair of Lee Stafford's new Coco Loco Irons to try out, and I can't wait to share my review with you.
What are the Coco Loco straighteners?
The ceramic plates in these straighteners are infused with coconut oil, which is the latest beauty craze. Coconut oil is fantastic for so many beauty things, and it makes a brilliant hair treatment for dry, damaged hair. The coconut oil infused into the Coco Loco straighteners helps to keep your hair looking sleek, smooth and shiny.
One of the best features of these straighteners, apart from the pink colour, is that there is a variable heat control, so you can select the perfect temperature to minimise heat damage to your hair. They only go up to 200C, whereas I usually use GHDs which are a little warmer.
There are some great features of these straighteners:
- Coconut oil infused ceramic plates to protect your hair.
- Rounded curve design helps you create different styles.
- Floating plates to help you get the perfect amount of heat to your hair.
- Variable temperature settings so you're in control.
- Swivel cord to prevent tangles.
- Lockable ceramic plates.
- LED temperature display.
- Fast heat up time.
- 2 year guarantee (subject to registration)
My experience with the Coco Loco straighteners
I had really high hopes for these straighteners, and I couldn't wait to use them. I tend to straighten my hair most days, so I was really looking forward to the protection that coconut oil infused ceramic plates would offer my hair. It took some faffing to figure out how to turn them on, but once I had it seemed really obvious! Being used to a higher temperature with my GHDs, I opted to try them at the highest variable temperature, which was 200C. They heated up really quickly, however I found that they weren't getting my hair as straight as my GHDs do. I have long, thick hair, so it can take some time to straighten it all, but it definitely took longer with the Coco Loco straighteners. I had to take smaller sections of my hair to straighten at a time.
As for the coconut oil infused ceramic plates, I don't know if it is because my hair had been washed the day before, but I found that my hair was really greasy straight after straightening it. It might be time to use bi-carb to remove an excess of product build up, or it might be because of the straighteners.
Overall these weren't great at straightening my long, thick hair, and I think they would be better suited to someone who has thinner or shorter hair than I do.
