There I was scrolling through Instagram one day when I saw an advert for Tap 2 Earn, and I knew I had to give it a go. I love finding real ways to make money online, like getting free money, earning with 20Cogs, matched betting and many more. On first look Tap2Earn seemed great. The website was filled with testimonials and payment proofs, plus a sidebar banner showing you how to reach them on Telegram, so I thought I would give it a try. Dear reader, if you don't have time to read this entire post then let me just warn you that Tap 2 Earn is a scam.
What is Tap 2 Earn?
Tap 2 Earn call themselves the ‘#1 Influencer Network in the world'.
They are a get paid to website like Swagbucks and OhMyDosh except they also have a heavy focus on referring members to earn more money.
In fact you cannot withdraw your money from Tap 2 Earn without referring people.
How to make money from Tap 2 Earn?
You are meant to earn money from Tap 2 Earn by completing offers (with an offer wall similar to what you see on Swagbucks, Instagc or Gift Hunter Club). These offers are meant to earn you $30 each, although the offer wall shows a different amount:
As you can see, here they show that they only pay $20, so it is unclear as to how much you are meant to earn per offer.
The biggest way that Tap 2 Earn want you to earn money is by referring your friends and family members.
You supposedly earn $2 per click and $10 per referral (this was $15 per referral).
Whilst I know of a few generous referral programs that reward you for referring your friends (like these bank accounts), not many are this generous, and certainly don't pay $2 per click.
You can also earn $50 by publishing a YouTube video about Tap 2 Earn.
Within the instructions they never tell you to disclose it as a paid video as per FTC (American) and ASA (UK) guidelines.
How to cash out on Tap 2 Earn?
In order to cash out from Top 2 Earn you need to reach 100% on the cash out page.
This means you need to:
- Refer friends
- Receive clicks on your referral link
- Complete 5 offers/tasks
Once your score on the cash out page reaches 100%, you can cash out via Paypal, Cash App, Bitcoin or a cheque in the post (I assume America only).
My experience with Tap 2 Earn being a scam
I started off really well with Tap 2 Earn. I had apparently earned $25 just by being referred by someone – a great start.
I shared the link on my Instagram Stories asking if anyone had experience with them, and I made a few referrals.
Weirdly, after signing up you don't get a welcome or confirmation email. In fact I have never had an email from Tap 2 Earn.
I hit my quota for referring people and clicks on the site, but I needed to complete 5 offers from the offer wall in order to reach cash out.
I am use to working with websites with offer walls – like Swagbucks, OhMyDosh, InstaGC and many more. I know that offers don't always track, so when I saw contact information in the sidebar for the Telegram app, I felt assured.
There was a little confusion over how much each reward would pay – this was called the $30 offer wall, but offers were showing for $20 and other amounts.
As predicted, my offers didn't track and reward me.
I have completed 7 offers to date, and only 2 have tracked and rewarded me.
No problem, I thought. I would reach out to them on Telegram.
I am sure you can see where this is going. I had no reply from the official Telegram account in the website sidebar.
However I have ‘earned' over $200, I am not going to be easily deterred.
I search the website for a help page, and a contact button.
The contact page doesn't go anywhere and instead shows an error.
However I am still not deterred. Over $200 is at stake here. I search for an email address for Tap 2 Earn. Surely if they are a scam their email account won't work.
As predicted, even the email address they have provided doesn't work.
Following my experiences, I believe that Tap 2 Earn is a scam.
Signs that Tap 2 Earn is a scam
When it comes to spotting a scam, when something seems too good to be true it usually is.
It is how I felt about matched betting before I gave it a try for myself. That's why I wanted to use Tap 2 Earn myself and see if it was genuine or a scam.
Here are some of the signs that Tap 2 Earn is a scam.
Unrealistic earnings
There are a few things to tackle under unrealistic earnings.
The first is that the offers pay out a heck of a lot more money than websites with decent reputations, like Swagbucks. Offering $20 – $30 payment for every single offer isn't realistic. There are offers that should earn you more money, but not every offer.
The referral program incentive is also very high compared to other money making websites out there.
Fake pay out proofs and testimonials
On first looking at the website you will see testimonials and payment proofs – for a lot of money.
These earnings are extremely unrealistic and are fake payment proofs.
The testimonials they provide are all YouTube videos – which they pay users $50 for!
The heavy reliance on referrals
The key ingredient to being successful with referral programs or affiliate programs is to give an honest review of something that works for you.
Even before you can cash out from Tap 2 Earn you have to refer friends and family members to be eligible to cash out.
This is a massive red flag.
How can you successfully refer people to something you haven't received a payout from?
I really love affiliate marketing, but the key to getting this right is to promote things that you really love and believe in. You can't do this with a website you haven't received a payment from!
Offers don't track
This one speaks for itself really – the offers simply don't track.
There isn't a way to complete all of the offers and get them credited.
I have completed 7 offers and only been credited with 2.
No support
There is absolutely no support from Tap 2 Earn.
Their Telegram account doesn't respond, their contact button doesn't work and their email address doesn't accept emails.
If you check out their social media posts you will find people complaining about Tap 2 Earn being a scam. Simply check out their comments on this Instagram post.
Check out the replies to their tweet – again, full of complaints.
