With some beauty products costing an arm and a leg, and a move towards using less plastic, you might have considered making your own beauty products. One product that I love to use is a salt scrub, and this strawberry salt scrub is easy to make as a treat for yourself or as a handmade gift for a loved one.
Why you should use a salt scrub
Salt scrubs are popular body treatments at spas, but you can easily recreate this at home with your own DIY salt scrub.
A salt scrub will exfoliate your skin which helps to remove the outermost later of dead skin cells. Doing this leaves your skin softer and smoother, and helps it to absorb skincare products more easily.
What you will need to make this strawberry salt scrub
There aren't many ingredients in this strawberry salt scrub recipe – in fact there are just four and you might even have two of them in your kitchen cupboard.
- 1 cup sea salt (you can use a fine or coarse grain to your preference.
- ½ cup coconut oil
- 10 drops strawberry soap fragrance
- 1 drop red soap colouring (if you don't have soap colouring then you can use food colouring)
Making your strawberry salt scrub is really simple.
Step 1. Add sea salt, coconut oil, soap fragrance and soap coloring to a bowl, stir well.
Step 2. Using a canning funnel, pour into airtight containers.
Storing your strawberry salt scrub
Your strawberry salt scrub can be stored in any airtight container, but if you are thinking of giving it as a gift then you might want to look for cute jars to store it in.
You can use recycled jars or pick up jars cheaply from Poundland, B&M, Homebargains and similar stores.
You can also add a chalk label for that extra special touch.
