There are so many ways you can make money online nowadays. From reselling products, completing surveys to getting remote work, the options are endless. One way of making money that has become increasingly popular, especially within the blogging circle is by creating and selling printables. If you're a fan of design, becoming a printable seller could be a fantastic business opportunity for you.
What are printables?
Printables are printable designs that you can digitally download and use for a whole range of different things. You can find printables for planners, goal-trackers, posters, artwork and loads more. They have grown increasingly popular over the past few years and can be super useful.
How to make printables
Interested in making your own printables? There are quite a few programs you can use with varying skill levels which are below.
Microsoft office has a few programs such as Word and Excel which are great to make simple printables on. Both programs allow you to create grid and tables if you want your printable to have boxes (Such as a tracker) or you can use certain fonts to create your own quotes.
The downside with Microsoft office is the design options are quite limited so I probably wouldn't recommend using it if you're planning on creating printables to sell but rather to use as practice or to get out idea concepts.
Canva is such a fantastic resource to use for printables and is the first option I would recommend! Canva allows you to use a lot of online resources, templates, font, and images to create very professional looking designs. It is also completely free to use, you can pay to upgrade to the Pro version for premium resources but you absolutely don't need to the premium version to make printables worthy of selling.
Another option for designing your printables can be on Adobe programs such as Photoshop and InDesign. These programs have a bit more of a learning curve than Canva and do cost money but if you come from a design background and understand how to pair fonts and images together, you can create some amazing printables that will be 100% original to you.
What type of printables can you sell?
There are so many options for making printables, you can create entire printable planners, workbooks, goal-trackers, printable quotes, posters, artwork, and challenges…There is a LOT of options out there for you! If you currently run your own blog or business, printables can be a fantastic product to sell to compliment your blog or business.
Where you can sell your printables?
The most popular place by far to sell printables is on the website Etsy. You can simply start up your own Etsy shop, create a listing, upload your printable files and then set your listing live. Once it's live, it will be on the Etsy Marketplace and then anyone searching for the specific type of printable can find your one. Before opening up your shop. I'd recommend having at least 5-10 designs to upload into your shop once it launches so you have a higher chance of getting your first sale.
Alternatively, if you already run your own blog or website, look into installing an eCommerce option and list your printables as products and sell them directly from your website. Doing it this way can minimize costs such as fees when you use websites like Etsy. I'd personally recommend doing both options so you can get as much exposure to your printables as possible.
