One of the many ways that bloggers can make money is through sponsored posts. A sponsored post is where a brand, company, agency or even an individual asks a blogger to write about their product(s) and/or service(s). The blogger charges them for writing this post and getting access to the audience the blogger has worked hard to develop. Sponsored posts are a great way for bloggers to make money, especially as they become more and more popular. Here is where to find sponsored posts for your blog.
Why blog as a business?
Blogging is a hobby that many people have been able to monetise, sometimes being able to leave their full time job to blog (that’s what I did!). Blogging is great, whether you want to write about something you are passionate about as a hobby, or you are looking to make some extra money. Some bloggers are making serious cash from their blogs. Check out how bloggers make their money to find out exactly how bloggers earn money.
If all of this sounds good and you aren’t put off by hard work (this stuff doesn’t happen overnight) then you might want to consider making your own blog and seeing how you can successfully monetise it. There are 5 steps to earning money from blogging:
- Decide what to blog about
- Build your blog – here’s my full tutorial for creating a WordPress website
- Create useful, awesome and amazing content
- Get visitors to your blog
- Start monetising your blog
Brands coming straight to you
In an ideal world, you will have brands coming straight to you and asking about a sponsored blog post.
When a brand comes straight to you, this gives you a chance to start negotiating with them so that you can create a great piece of content for your audience whilst still getting paid a fair price.
Pitch to brands directly
Another way to get sponsored posts for your blog is to pitch to them directly.
It can take some time to find the right person to get in touch with – some brands hire outside agencies to deal with their blogger outreach. You can start by looking for their press or media contact, and emailing them to ask for the email address of the correct person or department.
Find sponsored posts with blogger Facebook groups
There are plenty of fantastic Facebook groups around to find sponsored posts. Brands and agencies can post the details about their campaigns and invite you to apply – usually through a Google form to capture the data.
UK Blogger Opportunities is a good place to start, there is also Blogging Your Way To Riches, Official UK Bloggers and if you are a money blogger in the United Kingdom then you can join the UK Money Bloggers.
Hashtags on Twitter
Twitter is a great place to find sponsored posts for your blog, and you can do this in two ways.
The first way is to follow accounts that share blogging opportunities – you'll find that @BonjourBlogger regularly retweet opportunities.

As a blogger, simply browse through the blogging assignments to look for something relevant to your audience, and something that you would like to feature.
