Today I have a great guest post from Jack & Jack (I know, it can get confusing!) from Five Year Target. I really love these guys and what they are doing – they are trying to save money for their future house whilst still living a fun life and not missing out on too many of the finer things in life! Their meal plans are definitely worth a look and always make me hungry. Jack and Jack are both local to me so I’ve even had the pleasure of meeting one of the Jack’s! Let’s get stuck in to their post…
We’re all about saving money, and making money! Always looking for ways to save on the food shop, or make on the food shop using cashback apps and websites. But our biggest, largest, ways of saving money comes from the ‘cloud’. Not the kind that holds rain and covers up our wonderful English summers I hastened to add.
How does the ‘cloud’ save us money I hear you ask? Well, if you’ve ever read Five Year Target, you know one of our BIGGEST money savers is Meal Planning, and in turn getting goodies from the cheap shelf to incorporate!
This is where the ‘cloud’ comes in handy, we buy the bits, we freeze them off and then we set ourself a reminder on the calendar.
I work basic 9-5, but my partner, Jack, works a range of shift some starting from 7am right up to 1pm starts. I share my calendar with Jack through the ‘cloud’ and he shares his with me. He adds his shifts to the calendar and then I always know when he’s home, and we can see at a glance what we need to plan for with regards to meals etcetera. On Thursday do we need a quick and easy meal or can we have something a bit more elaborate? The ‘cloud’ tells us! On Thursday say we decided to have Chilli Con Carne, and we had some mince in the freezer, we would set a reminder for Wednesday to get it out and put it in the fridge to defrost. See? We waste less and we can pick up bargains without worrying about not using the stuff, and then chucking it out.
Of course the ‘cloud’ has countless other benefits; storing photos, backups and the like. But we mainly want it to save us money, time and produce less waste. We forked out enough on getting iPhones, let’s make them work for us!
Do you use the cloud to help you save money?
